Split Sight

Split Sight is a sculpture designed to encourage visitors to focus on everything except the sculpture itself. Light projects from a minimalist structure. At first glance, there is nothing special about the normal, white light. However, this light has been meticulously crafted to alter your perception of the world around you.

Light is so fundamental and omnipresent that we rarely consider it as a thing in and of itself. Split Sight deconstructs normal white light into the three fundamental pieces--red, green, and blue--that people as an accident of biology can happen to see. Using this curated light, Split Sight splits the site--or at least your perception of it--into echoed shadows of these fundamental colors. These colors are constantly altering and changing places as the different colored shadows emerge. Visitors are free to explore and intermix these colors and shapes with themselves, other visitors, and the environment.
